Intermediate Computer Skills for life, work & study

Dates: Tuesdays starting on 8th October to 10th December, 2019
Hours 11am-2pm. Duration: 10 weeks
Course Cost:ACFE funded/concession $83 Full Fee $120

Designed for those who have some computer skills, and are considered at a post beginner computer level.
This course will give you a good grounding in the Microsoft office suite: Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint before you move on to using online storage including Google apps.
You will learn how to store and manage online and offline as well as understand how cloud based apps integrate with each other giving you a good grounding in cloud based productivity tools and their application for life, business or further study.

You will be able to choose a particular role in an area of interest and focus on specific cloud based productivity tools, for example, that will help you to learn how to:
Handle email and calendar
Automate your inbox with filters and easily undo sent messages
Organise events and meetings using communication and collaboration tools
Save time using prewritten replies
Keep track of important tasks on your to-do list
Write letters
Create a budget
Create a presentation
Understand online commerce
Create a LinkedIn profile

Jobsearch online activities and MyGov information and access
Career Guidance and Pathway opportunities.

Improve and update your skills and if you are self-taught fill the gaps in your knowledge.

Drones, the new literacy

Dates: 22 October to 27 November 2019, i.e. six weeks

Looking for an interesting career?

What about Drone Deliverer? The future of work is changing and so are the types of jobs that are becoming available.

Drones are being utilised in ever increasing numbers across a range of industries, from farming to real estate agencies to the military and photographic businesses…and they are slated to become even more prolific in the workforce. 

In this course, you will learn how to fly and operate drones safely and effectively using both simulators and real working drones. No prior knowledge needed, just a desire to learn!

This newly developed course combines STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math’s) with Drone technology.   This courses will give you a taster into the world of drones, and an opportunity for further study and possible employment opportunities.

The course will involve applied and contextualised teaching of basic math and physics. The students will be required to evaluate and comment on their experiences to develop their communication and interpersonal skills while evaluating their drone activities and relating these back to their observational work experiences.  As well as basic drone operations, the students will choose a real world project in which they will use the drones to produce a 360-degree video.

Program and pathways

This project seeks to provide a pathway for adult learners – particularly young adult learners- to gain the skills necessary to obtain entry into the accredited courses with a view to gaining employment in this growing field, or to develop their own businesses. 

Potential Pathways:

  • Commercial UAV Pilot’s Licence
  • Foundation Year (Science / Engineering)

 

 

ACFE funded courses

To be eligible for the concession rate you must be aged between 16 – 70 years of age.  Completing this course to get into employment, further employment or planning to possibly enter education or further education.  Hold a concession card or pension card.
