The Buchan Neighbourhood House provides the following programs and projects for the community of Buchan, Gelantipy and District
1. Community Newsletter. The Buchan Phoenix
Buchan Neighbourhood House produces, prints and distributes the community newsletter. To be added to our mailing list or to place an advert contact email@example.com. The newsletter can be accessed on this site via posts in the home page.
2. Community Phone Book
Buchan and District has a local phone book that can be purchased at the roadhouse, general store and the neighbourhood House. We do not add mobile numbers without permission. Changes to phone numbers or if you would like your number, business or organisation to be added or updated, please contact us.
3. New Residents Welcome Pack
All the local information that you need to know. Local services, groups, agencies. A list of all the local medical services and lots more. Hard copies are available at the Neighbourhood house and on this website
4. Community Website
Buchan Neighbourhood House manages, updates and reviews the Buchan Community Website. Please contact us for any changes or additions.
5. Information Dissemination
Via our emails and networks with other agencies, neighbourhood houses and government departments, we provide and promote services, programs and events in our region to our community using various online, printed and f2f options.
As a not for profit organisation, we continue to have an advocacy role for our Buchan and Gelantipy District communities with the 3 tiers of Government – Local, State and Federal, along with numerous agencies to improve the liveability quality of our communities.
We are a communications hub for these 3 levels of Government. We directly feedback to Government agencies and also announce the latest news available from Governments within The Phoenix Newsletter, so our communities are well informed of opportunities, visits, challenges and grants.
7. Community Resilience and Preparedness
We prepare and assist the community with review and distribution of the Community Local Incident Management Plan (LIMP) and booklet
We manage, prepare and activate the community phone tree
We arrange community preparedness meetings with relevant agencies and community
We assist EGSC with the operation of the Community Relief Centre
8. Events and information sessions
Annual Biggest Morning Tea is held in May
9. Classes, Courses and Workshops
We conduct classes, courses and workshops including but not limited to art n craft, gardening information and self- improvement.
We respond to local needs when developing Courses, Classes and Workshops, what we need from you is IDEAS of what you would like to Learn either to improve your education, work related skills or learning in an informal setting such as Art, Craft, Singing, Music etc….
As long as there are enough people we can source out teachers and provide the welcoming environment to come together to explore your interests.
