Duration: 6 weeks

Digital Matters classes are small, friendly, relaxed and filled with other people just like you.  They are taught by an experienced Learn Local teacher who will help you gain the skills that matter in a safe learning environment.

The course is for anyone who wants to learn the basics of living in a digital world, it is especially relevant to people who would like to progress to further study and job seekers who do not have the skills to participate in online recruitment.

Intermediate Computer Skills for life Work and Study

Dates: Starting Friday 23rd April

Hours 1 to 3 pm

Duration: 10 weeks

Location: Bruthen and District Neighbourhood House, old RSL Building 26 Main Street, Bruthen

Course Cost: ACFE funded/concession $83 Full Fee $120

Designed for those who have some computer skills, and are considered at a post beginner computer level.

This course will give you a good grounding in the Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint before you move on to using online storage including Google apps.

You will learn how to store and manage online and offline as well as understand how cloud-based apps integrate with each other giving you a good grounding in cloud-based productivity tools and their application for life, business or further study.

You will be able to choose a particular role in an area of interest and focus on specific cloud-based productivity tools, for example, that will help you to learn how to:

Handle email and calendar

Automate your inbox with filters and easily undo sent messages

Organise events and meetings using communication and collaboration tools

Save time using prewritten replies

Keep track of important tasks on your    to-do list

Write letters

Create a budget

Create a presentation

Understand online commerce

Create a LinkedIn profile

Jobsearch online activities and MyGov information and access

Publisher Skills for life, work and study

Dates: Starting on Tuesday 20th April

Hours 5.30 – 7.30pm

Duration: 3 weeks

Location: The Hub, 27 Dalmahoy St, Bairnsdale

Course Cost: ACFE funded/concession $45 Full Fee $70

Learn the skills to create invitations, newsletters, flyers and brochures for your club, business or personal use that stand out.

The skills and knowledge covered in this course are sufficient to create creative documents, including newsletters, letters, memos, faxes, flyers, calendars, posters and the like.

Course Prerequisites

Previous experience using applications on a PC or Macintosh is a preferred, but not a required prerequisite for this course.  This program is also ideal for self-taught people who want to learn correct and time-saving techniques while using Microsoft Publisher.

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a computer spreadsheet programme that can be used to store and analyse large quantities of data.

Excel has many functions to sort and analyse data that range from basic mathematical functions to complex statistical analyses.

This course is primarily designed for people who have little or no understanding, knowledge of, or experience in using Microsoft Excel.

To be eligible for the concession rate you must be aged between 16 – 70 years of age.  Completing this course to get into employment, further employment or planning to possibly enter education or further education.  Hold a concession card or pension card.
