As the penultimate round of the four-part ATRC, this multi stage Tarmac Rally promises to be a nail biter. This fantastic multi-stage rally includes two immense 38km stages, with a total competitive distance of 320km. The multi-stage rally consists of twenty stages with short liaison distances in between to save fuel and tyres and prevent fatigue – the rally stage start is only 1.5km from the service park. The short liaisons and tightly-packed field ensure a full day’s racing each leg – and promises great value for money. The Snowy River Sprint is based in the holiday hub of Lakes Entrance. As a water-front town, Lakes Entrance is a very popular all year round holiday destination, including during winter months when the climate is often a few degrees warmer than Melbourne. With accommodation varying from 4 star to budget and great restaurants, the Snowy River Sprint is a complete Tarmac Rally experience.

As always, we will be running the Tour category, encompassing all 300km of the competition course.
All events in East Gippsland are set against spectacular backdrops in one of Victoria’s most diverse natural environments. Home to the Gippsland Lakes, nine National Parks and a host of state parks and reserves, it’s a region that embraces the great outdoors. The East Gippsland Shire Council and our local community embrace events as an important part of our lifestyle and we welcome the Snowy River Sprint again in 2014. The Snowy River area spans from the forests to the sea, including the rugged high country around McKillops Bridge, the honeycomb labyrinth of the Buchan Caves to the majestic stands of remnant coastal rainforest near Marlo and Cape Conran Coastal Park.Council are delighted to be proud sponsors of the Snowy River Sprint. We love how the event showcases Buchan and runs alongside the Snowy River. We look forward to being a part of the event as it grows in future years.

Miles and Simone (Heartbreaker country and folk music) Sunday 10th July at the Buchan Hall 6.30 pm

Miles and SimoneHaving been programmed in The Melbourne International Arts Festival, The Brisbane Powerhouse World Theatre Festival, The Darwin Festival, The Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Falls Festival, The Famous Spielgel tent and supporting the likes of Clairy Browne and the Banging Rackettes, Tinpan Orange and Harry James Angus, Miles O’Neil and Simone Stewart are a much loved Australian musical duo.

They are dear friends and have been for quite some time. Both Actors and musicians by trade, they met during a production of Summer of the 17th Doll and have been collaborating on various projects ever since. Miles is a musician, actor and founding member of internationally renowned band and performance group The Suitcase Royale. Simone is an opera singer, cabaret star and creator of the critically acclaimed cabaret The Lovebirds.

Miles & Simone was born in the summer months of 2012, when they found themselves on many an afternoon drinking gin and singing lonesome duets in the backyard. As the months got colder they left the backyard and began recording the songs in Miles’ spare room studio.

They eventually put a rough mix of the album into the hands of Darren Hanlon when he took a loan of Miles’ wonky old piano. Hanlon liked the songs so much he took them to Portland, Oregon to be mixed by renowned engineer Adam Selzer (She and Him, M. Ward, Jolie Holland) at the famed Type Foundry Studios. As well as that, Darren Hanlon recruited a handful of talented Portland musicians to play on the record.

They released this album independently and the above tours subsequently took place. Since then, they have released another full length album and toured the country in support of it.
