Buchan Neighbourhood House now has the linux ubuntu program
12 Jul 10
Linux refers to a computer operating system. It uses free and open source souftware collaboration and all the underlying source code can be used, freely modified, and redistributed, both commercially and non-commercially.
Linux can be installed on a wide variety of computer hardware, ranging from mobile phones, tablet computers and video game consoles, to mainframes and supercomputers.
Most desktop computers run either Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X and pay for computer virus programs. With Linux it is all free.
It can also be used to run older, smaller computers that can no longer be used with Microsoft programs.
If you would like to come in and have a look it is currently set up on one of the Neighbourhood House Computers. If you would like to learn more about it we can offer an information session. Give us a call to find out more on 5155 9216.
