INPRESS
The Cave to the Rave takes us from the earthen floor of prehistoric man to the polished parquetry of modern dance with a few side steps and knee slides along the way.
It's a dance class for comedy beginners, intermediate and advanced. By the end of the lesson you will have learnt that it's not a good idea to crowd surf at a Wiggles concert; understand just why women dance in a circle around their hand bags and learn how to ‘Bollyrish' - the new dance craze the kids are doing from Dublin to Delhi.
Damian is the guy you see out of the corner of your eye at engagement parties tearing up the dance floor, often before the band has started. Now he wants people to pay and see him dance and if you saw him perform his 80s dance tribute on Spicks and Specks recently you'll realise it will be well worth the money.
However, aside from a Duran Duran party piece seen around Melbourne's outer east and dancing in footy shorts and thongs at the opening ceremony of the Darwin Performing Arts Centre, Damian brings virtually no dance experience to the stage - but he has a unitard and he's determined to wear it.
Damian will take to the stage with a series of ‘highly' choreographed routines capturing the finer detail of everything from - the sociology of the wedding dance floor; suspiciously funded fringe movement ensembles; unseen clips of So You Think You Can Dance? auditions from around the world and a homage to the dance film genre that will have you wishing you never threw away your leg warmers.
So strap your dance card to your wrist, pop on your leg warmers, find a partner and come and see the show. Come on, don't be a wallflower!
