Auslan

We are looking for people who maybe interested in learning Auslan.  Auslan is the sign language of the Australian deaf community.  This course will be for people who do not have any sign language skills. Please contact us if you would like to learn.

 Cone Pixies.....a workshop by Jenny Romano

  A one day needle-felting workshop where you will create a character face on a cone shaped wool batt. Learn the techniques of creating a face from wool and embellishing it in choice of hand-dyed Corriedale fleece. These little pixies stand approx 20cm high.

Cost for this all inclusive workshop is $65.00. Your kit includes sufficient fibre for one pixie... colours of choice. You will need to bring a piece of foam approx 10cm high, on which to work (an off-cut from Clarke rubber or a car washing sponge work well) If you have felting needles bring them with you... (sizes #38, for coarse wool #40. for fine wool. ) Jenny has some which you can purchase .....$2.00 a needle. Or you may borrow hers and pay only of you break one.. (now that’s a good deal!)

Community Garden Project

Interest in developing a community garden was identified through the Community Plan public consultations.  To get this project started an application is being drafted to apply for funding through the EGSC Community Grants.  The establishment grant of  $1000 was successful and  If anyone is interested in this project please contact the Neighbourhood House.

Community Road Safety Grants

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) is offering community groups in Victoria the opportunity to apply for funding for road safety projects under the Community Road Safety Grants Program. The program aims to:

  • encourage community involvement in local road safety programs that are consistent with Victoria's Road Safety Strategy, arrive alive (www.arrivealive.vic.gov.au)
  • provide opportunities for local community groups to develop and implement effective road safety projects targeting specific local road safety issues.
